Project School Visit:
Grand Valley and District Public School

Visit sponsored by: The Friends of the Environment Foundation - Orangeville

On October the 1st, 2004, we visited Grand Valley's Grand Valley and District Public School. Below are some letters from the school.

The Foundation provided our school with an excellent, relevant presentation. This presentation related directly to the grade four curriculum. The presenter mentioned that peregrine falcons are consumers and that they are carnivores. He also talked about food chains and how DDT gets into the peregrine's system. Habitats and adaptations were discussed and explained well. These are all aspects of the curriculum. I have referred to this presentation numerous times already during my teaching. I have used it to clarify terms and to explain concepts. I would like to have the opportunity to see this presentation every year to support my teaching. It is a very worthwhile and applicable topic for the grade four science curriculum.

The presenter was excellent at keeping the information age appropriate and keeping the students engaged. Please the following letters from students concerning the presentation.

Thank you for the opportunity of extending the curriculum to real life situations.

Yours sincerely,
Ryan Dowdall
