Project School Visit:
Chris Hadfield Public School

Visit sponsored by: TD - Friends of the Environment Foundation: Milton

On January the 26th, 2006, we visited Milton's Chris Hadfield Public School. Below is a letter from the school.

This letter is to thank you and the Canadian Peregrine Foundation for the excellent presentation that took place at our school on Thursday January 26th.

The Foundation's representative, Maya, brought in the Peregrine Falcon named 'Falon' for an afternoon of information and important messages about the life of these magnificent birds. Maya immediately was able to engage our grade 4 and grade 6 students with her sense of humor and with her knowledge of the Peregrine Falcon as well as other bird species. Included in her presentation, Maya shared stories and allowed the opportunity for our students to make important learning connections between humans and the impact that we have had (and continue to have) with wildlife and the environment in which we share.

This informative presentation is very much connected to our Life Systems unit for science, and the teacher booklet that was also included in the presentation will be extremely useful for student activities both inside and outside of the classroom.

In closing we would like to offer our sincere thanks to The TD Canada Trust - Friends of the Environment for their generous funding which allowed this presentation to take place. Programming of this quality is essential for our students learning and is very much appreciated. The information that was shared and the manner, in which it was presented last week, will leave a lasting impression on our students. Thank you once again!

Yours truly,

Rick Nodwell Principal
