Project School Visit:
Muskoka Beechgrove Public School (Gravenhurst)

Visit sponsored by:  Georgian Bay Osprey Society

In November 2001 we visited Gravenhurst's Muskoka Beechgrove Public School with our young male red-tailed hawk "Eric".  Below is a letter from the school:

Last week you spoke with two large groups of our grades 4 to 6 students in the library about the peregrine falcon and the osprey.  It was a very impressive workshop that was both educational and entertaining for both students and staff.  Following your visit, students shared much information with me regarding the lesson that you taught.  Expectations from the Science curriculum were met and student learning certainly occurred.  Teachers have initiated some informative follow-up activities that have consolidated learning and will extend learning.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and expertise with our students.  It is gratifying to have community groups work with us in our efforts to create awareness and interest in our natural environment.  We were pleased that you approached us with your generous offer.  May you experience continued success in your endeavours.

Yours truly,

Shirley Harris
Principal
