Project School Visit:
Buttonville Public School (Markham)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

In December 1999, we visited Markham's Buttonville Public School with our 9-year-old female peregrine falcon "Qetesh".  Below are some comments from the vice-principal and some of the students:

Last December the students from Grades 6 and 7 at Buttonville Public School were involved with presentations from your foundation.  The conservationists brought a live falcon as part of their workshop.  The teachers and students were very impressed with the quality of the presentation.

The introductory remarks and video set the stage for an interesting dialogue afterwards.  The presenters answered questions effectively keeping in mind the language skills of these eleven and twelve year old students.  One of the Grade 6 classes will be e-mailing you to get answers to questions that arise during the remainder of the year.

Comments from the classes include:

All our teachers endorsed the visit saying they recommend this program for future years in grade six classes (flight unit) or for any grades studying environmental concerns.  Thanks for coming to visit the students and providing them with this exciting and relevant program.

Sincerely,

Bill Reynolds, Vice-Principal
