Project School Visit:
Carl A. Nesbitt Public School (Sudbury)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

In November 2002, we visited Sudbury's Carl A. Nesbitt Public School with one of our peregrine falcons.  Below is a letter from the principal:

This letter is to share the wonderful experience that the students at Carl A. Nesbitt Public School encountered during the Peregrine Falcon's visit.

This presentation linked to many curriculum expectations and at the same time helped students get a better perspective on what is happening in our environment.  Viewing the bird in person just added that authentic experience that made students take a proactive approach to their environment.  Teachers and students enjoyed the activities that were provided from the presentation and it helped reinforce the learning that occurred.

Feedback from the teachers and students was phenomenal.  The presenter did a fantastic job explaining and answering all the questions that students had.

I hope that more pupils will have the privilege to experience such an insightful learning opportunity.

Thanks to the Toronto Dominion Bank and to Friends of the Environment Foundation for bringing such an important awareness to our school.  I strongly recommend this presentation to all age groups.

We anxiously look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,

Denise Piuzzi-Goodmurphy, Principal
