Project School Visit:
Codrington Public School (Barrie)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

In March 2001, we visited Barrie's Codrington Public School with our nine-year-old female peregrine falcon "Ariel".  Below are some comments from the school:

On Friday, March 31, we had the pleasure of hosting a representative from the Canadian Peregrine Foundation and his feathered assistant, Ariel.  Together they did two sessions for a total of one hundred junior aged students, including some with special needs.  David's presentation style combined with astounding factual information kept everyone in rapt attention.  When Ariel spread her wings and displayed some of her capabilities, it was a living example of nature's complexity and how we, as a society, must guard it.  The students even asked to continue the sessions through recess!  How's that for a ringing endorsement?  A week has passed and the students are still mentioning facts they learned and marveling about the Peregrine's astonishing speed and ability to adapt.  Thank you for this tremendous and important learning opportunity.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Shipley
