Project School Visit:
Corvette Public School (Scarborough)

Visit sponsored by:  TD Friends of the Environment Foundation

In February 2002, we visited Corvette Public School with our male peregrine falcon "Archie".  Below is a letter from the school:

The staff and students were really impressed with the presentation of the peregrine falcon.  David did a fantastic job sharing information and making it interesting for the staff and students here at Corvette.  We all learned quite a bit!

Students in our community rarely have the opportunity for close encounters with wildlife and to get such a close look at Archie the peregrine was an experience they won't soon forget.  The discussion made clear connections to the curriculum and the students' previous courses of study.  After the presentation, the students were really enthusiastic and looked forward to view the video and browse the books and materials left behind.

Their comments ranged greatly after the presentation.  Shannon, in grade 4 said, "I enjoyed the presentation because it was interesting and I learned lots."  Michele said, "The peregrine falcon was cool!"  Some of the highlights were when Archie would move around and flap his wings to the infamous "poop"!  The students were also beside themselves with the speed of the bird and its amazing eyesight.

Special thanks to the Friends of the Environment Foundation for their financial support, which made it possible for our grade 4 and 6 students to have the opportunity to be a part of your program.

Sincerely,

David Budlovsky, Jr. Chairperson
