Project School Visit:
Foxboro Public School (Foxboro)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

In March 2001, we visited Foxboro Public School, north of Belleville, with our nine-year-old female peregrine falcon "Ariel".  Below are some comments from the school:

On behalf of the staff and students of Foxboro Public School, I would like to thank the Canadian Peregrine Foundation for their wonderful presentation.  Our students were absolutely thrilled to see Ariel and very interested in the presentation by Mr. Pfeffer.

We were very impressed with how well this presentation could be linked to our Science Curriculum.  As a Grade Four teacher, I felt it tied in beautifully with our study of animal habitats, and I know that Mrs. Ducommun, our Grade Six teacher found a wonderful connection the the Flight unit.

The importance of presentations such as yours, which bring endangered species to the classroom cannot be overstated.  Students need to develop a greater awareness of, and sensitivity to ecological issues.  Ariel received the undivided attention of all of our students present at the assembly, and was the subject of much discussion afterwards.

Thanks you again for bringing Ariel to Foxboro Public School.

Sincerely,

Julie Candler
