Project School Visit:
Lincoln M. Alexander Public School (Hamilton)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

On December 8, 1999, we visited over 200 students at Lincoln M. Alexander Public School with our 9-year-old peregrine, "Qetesh".  Dozens of them took the time to thank us by sending in drawings of Qetesh or other peregrines.  Below are some samples - thanks to Justin (top left), Lacey (top middle), Andrew (top right), and an anonymous young artist (bottom left) for their artwork.

Samantha Sohal (illustration at right) asked why we put leg bands on chicks.  This is done so that we can keep track of the birds as they leave home and set up territories of their own.  Being able to monitor individual birds in this way helps us learn about their lifespan, migration patterns, and much more.
