Project School Visit:
St. Edmund Campion Catholic School (Scarborough)

Visit sponsored by: Friends of the Environment Foundation

In December 2002, we visited Scarborough's St. Edmund Campion Catholic School with "Oscar" one of our peregrine falcons.  Below is a comment from the school as well as drawings from the students:

On Friday December 13, our grades 4 and 6 classes had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Nash and his peregrine friend at our school, St. Edmund Campion in Scarbourgh.

As usual, Mr. Nash's presentation was lively, humorous and informative; he showed a brief video clip of some peregrines in downtown Toronto.  In addition, he gave a very interesting presentation about the peregrine in general.

The students really enjoyed the appearance of the live falcon, and learned more about "raptors", "baffles", "endangered species", and "DDT".  The content was directly related to the Ontario curriculum, and served to enhance the objectives for both grades 4 and 6.

I would highly recommend this fact-packed presentation to other schools, and encourage the TD Friends of the Environment foundation to continue promoting this very worthwhile project.
