Project School Visit:
Westmount Junior School (Etobicoke)

Visit sponsored by:  TD Friends of the Environment Foundation

In September 2001 we visited Etobicoke's Westmount Junior School with our young male peregrine falcon "Oscar".  Below is a letter from the school:

In late September we had the good fortune to have had a visit from your Foundation.  The presentation to our Grades 4 and 5 students was excellent.  Tracy Simpson did an excellent job of explaining the life cycle of the peregrine, discussing why the bird is endangered, and was very patient with the many questions asked by the classes.

The visit ties in very well with the environmental focus we have at Westmount.  After the demonstration lesson many students went back to their classrooms and spent time discussing the peregrine and other endangered species found in Canada.  The resources left behind have been used by the staff to enhance the students' knowledge of endangered species.

Thank you for this wonderful presentation!  All of us (staff and students) who saw the program were enlightened.

We highly recommend this program to all Junior schools, and hope that the program funding will continue so that others may be made aware of the need to protect our endangered species, as well as making the earth a better place to live.

Sincerely,

Mr. Rick Carter
Principal
