The Canadian Peregrine Foundation

Winter 1998 -- An adult Sharp-shinned Hawk.  A bird which looks like this and perches in a tree is very likely either this species or a Cooper's Hawk; a peregrine falcon would have less colouration on the breast, and would have a dark malar stripe under the eye.  In addition, it would only rarely be seen in such a setting.
