October 17, 2000 -- Just before his release, Nate turned to look at Natalie Helferty, as if to say "So, can I finally go now?". Visible in this photograph are both the transmitter antenna coming off his back, and the black Canadian Wildlife Service identification band on his leg. Seconds after this photo was taken, Nate flew off, made a farewell loop over our heads, and then headed for the nearby Sheraton Hotel.
