Omega has takes to the air

July 01, 2015 - Toronto - Canada Square Building - Yonge and Eglinton

Marion Nash Reports:

Tracy started the watch this morning at 7:30 and fond Omega and Typhoon was where we had left them last evening. She saw the adults bring in food 3 times before I got there at 11:00 and all of it went to Typhoon none for Omega.

When I got there Tracy was talking to 2 lads from Solar window washing who had come to take down the swing stage and had been forced off the roof by the adult female Haven. Wide eyed and just a little flustered they explained that they had no idea she had chicks yet and would just have to leave the stage there until Haven decided she would allow them back LOL!

I was just getting settled in for my shift and Tracy was telling me that Omega was very agitated about not getting any food and had has been flapping and running the back and forth on the ledge looking like she was ready to go and boom she was off.

She flew directly south to the new condo building on Duplex at the south end of Canada Square and landed safe and sound on the ledge just below the roof at about 15 or 16 floors up great flight!

For the rest of the morning she explored her new playground on the condo roof and was visited by Mom and Dad several times. At 4:00 PM Mom flew in again with Dad right behind her still no food so Omega took off again with Mom and Dad right on her tail heading directly for the nest building and home. She was loosing altitude and ended up landing on the black building between The nest and TVO.

Just before 7:00 PM Haven brought in a large food package and landed right beside Omega and she rushed up to grab it from mom and was cuffed by moms wing so she sat back and watched Haven prep the food with anticipation. I figured she was finally going to get a meal as I watched mom pluck the food for another 5 minutes but to my surprize she took off leaving Omega unfed and very upset. The food went again directly to Typhoon in the nest.

Omega ran back and forth the roof top flapping and yelling and then took flight heading again for then nest and food but again she was too low. She bumped the windows fluttering down the glass so I was up and ready to run to her rescue but she recovered and flew across Eglinton Ave. towards Rio Can. Once again she was too low and bumped the glass on Rio Can and started to flutter down she recovered and thankfully flew back down Duplex and landed back on the black building.

Just after 8:00 PM she jumped down of the edge onto the roof and by 9:00 she had not come back up so I guess she had had enough for the day and went to bed and so did I.

Happy Canada Day
