and then there were 3 eggs - Rochester, NY

April 27, 2010 - New York - Rochester

Carol Phillips Reports:

Archer and Beauty were incubating 4 eggs.  That is until yesterday morning (4/27/10).  We had noticed a dent or dimple in one of the eggs the day before, but hoped that nothing was wrong with it.  Tuesday morning around 7:30 am, Beauty pushed one egg out from beneath her.  That’s when we were able to see the large crack.

It didn’t take her long to dispose of this egg.

So, we here in Rochester are now waiting for the 3 remaining eggs to hatch, probably sometime around May 20th.

Archer Returns to Rochester, NY

March 21, 2010 - New York - Rochester

Carol Phillips Reports:

After an unsuccessful nesting year in 2009, I’m happy to report that  Archer has returned from his migration.  Beauty, the new resident female remained in Rochester through the Winter.

Watchers witnessed the return of Archer on Sunday morning.  Since then, they have been seen inside the new nest box on the Times Square Bldg, bowing and renewing their bonds.

We are hopeful that there will be young fledglings in Rochester in 2010.

Do you have photos or videos of fledges or parents? Share them with us!

June 11, 2009 - Burlington - Lift Bridge

Matt MacGillivray Reports:

If you have photos of any of the CPF monitored nest sites, birds or fledglings in this exciting time, we would love to see them!  If you have older photos or videos from CPF events, like the 2009 Sportsman show, we would love to see those too.

We’ve got a flickr group that you can upload photos and short videos to.   If you have longer videos, upload them to youtube and tag them with cpf and peregrine and I will find them.

We might include some of the videos or photos in our updates, or around the site.  You could be famous!

Rochester, NY Midtown Plaza - 5/16/09

May 16, 2009 - New York - Rochester

Carol Phillips Reports:

As many of you already know, the situation here in Rochester , NY has changed dramatically.  Mariah was injured in a territorial battle and is now under the care of a Vet in Syracuse, NY and Kaver did not return from his migration.

Rochester now has a new pair, Beauty (2007) from Pittsburgh, PA and Archer (2006) from Pt Colborne, Ontario, Canada.  In a strange twist of fate, Archer is the grandson of Mariah & Kaver.

Archer and Beauty are currently incubating eggs on the east end of Midtown Plaza.  There are no cameras on this site and no way of knowing how many eggs have been laid.

The Rochester Watchers are keeping an eye on the situation and I’ll report if anything changes.
